Introduced this semester, the new minor combines hands-on training with theoretical knowledge to equip students for success in todays fast-paced audio industry. It consists of 19 credit hours and offers a diverse curriculum, blending foundational courses in music theory and ear training with cutting-edge instruction in music technology and business practices.

The audio production minor is an exciting addition to 酴圖弝けs Department of Music, said Richard Human, associate professor and developer of the program. Its designed to bridge the gap between traditional music education and the rapidly evolving field of audio technology, giving students a competitive edge in their future careers. Whether youre aspiring to be a music producer, sound engineer or live sound technician, this program offers the tools and knowledge to help you excel.

Open to all majors, students will gain experience in recording, mixing and mastering techniques while exploring the creative and ethical dimensions of the music industry.

With the unveiling of the Department of Musics new $21 million facility in 2022, the music faculty were granted a state-of-the-art technology package that took a year to install. This included a professional recording studio, classrooms with streaming capabilities and a recital hall that allows real-time connection across the globe, said Daniel Stevens, professor and head of the Department of Music. We are extremely fortunate to have Dr. Richard Human leading growth in our technology capabilities in the department, inspired by his vision through this new minor.
